Guidelines

Welcome to the Continued Learning Online continuing education program. It is our goal to provide you with a wide range of continuing education opportunities. To that end, we offer our own CE content as well as CE content developed by established providers of home study continuing education programs.

Continued Learning Online’s own educational program is administered by Sheree Graves, Director of Continuing Education, and sponsored by ContinuedLearning, LLC. Our program is designed to meet the needs of today’s behavioral healthcare professional. Today's behavioral health professional plays many roles - whether in a single provider practice or a multi-faceted organization. Today's professional is a supervisor, an administrator, a computer programmer and a leader as well as a clinician. Thus, today's professional must know about managed care, technology integration, governance, accreditation and outcome evaluation as well as how to treat the clients who come to them for care. Our overall goal is to inform our customers of "best practices" and some of the newest research in the many areas of the behavioral health field, so that they may continuously improve the quality of outcomes for behavioral health customers and the community.

The target audience for Continued Learning Online’s CE programs, both its own and those of its other CE content providers, includes psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, nurses, addictions professionals, mental health administrators, quality improvement specialists and other individuals working in the behavioral health field as clinicians, administrators and leaders in or out of managed care environments who must integrate technology into their work.

Overall Program Learning Objectives:

After completing readings in a range of the CE offerings provided at this site, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the results of a variety of published outcome studies in the behavioral healthcare literature, including both mental health and substance abuse literature.
  • Assess current issues in managed care as they relate to clinical practice as well as behavioral healthcare organizations and management
  • Discuss new clinical developments in behavioral healthcare, both mental health and substance abuse, and their best use for increased efficiency as well as effectiveness
  • Describe a broader perspective from which to interpret and design processes for complying with accreditation standards so that actual performance is enhanced as a result of preparing for accreditation.
  • Discuss issues and strategies for the integration of technology and practice such that practice is improved through technology.

More specific educational objectives are linked to our various continuing education materials. Please refer to those directly from the various home study materials.

Refund Policy:

Refunds of fees will be made in full, minus a $10.00 processing fee, to any individual participant who requests a refund prior to actually taking any tests/exams for CE credits. Once the individual has taken any test for CE credit or logged on to a CE-credit only item, refunds will not be available. Requests at that point will be handled as a complaint or grievance and our grievance procedure will be followed.

Grievance Procedure:

Anyone with a legitimate grievance concerning the quality of a CE offering or article as determined by our Grievance Review Board can receive credit for an alternative article of equal length. Initially the Director of Continuing Education will handle any complaints. If she cannot resolve them, then if the complainant desires, the matter will be taken to our Grievance Review Board. The complainant will be asked to put his/her complaint in writing, along with any requested resolution, and submit it to us. Upon receipt of the written complaint, we will call the Grievance Review Board together to review the matter and reach a determination within three months of the filing.
